Our monolithic laser technology wins the Lab Venture Challenge

Our monolithic mode-locked laser technology won the Physical Sciences category of CU Boulder Venture Partners' Lab Venture Challenge.

Thomas Schibli pitched the monolithic mode-locked laser technology developed in our lab to investors at the Lab Venture Challenge of CU Boulder Venture Partners, with the goal of starting a commercialization effort around it. We are happy to report that the pitch won in the Physical Sciences category, with an award of $125,000.

The technology was recognized for its “best noise performance in a small and efficient device.” Our monolithic lasers are among the quietest free-running optical oscillators available, while being compact and robust. Applications include RF instrumentation, radar, and position, navigation and timing (PNT).
